The Essentials of Tips – The Basics
When the levels of blood glucose and the insulin goes down, it results in a condition that is referred to as ketosis. ketosis is very useful in treatment of obesity and is able used to induce production of ketone before a chemotherapy. Ketosis is classified based on the levels of ketone production as well as the method of ketone induction. From the three methods of classification, ketosis is divided into three types. The three types of ketosis are; fasting ketosis, nutritional ketosis and diseased or the pathological ketosis.
Fasting ketosis is the type of ketosis that is caused by long fasts that boosts the levels of the ketone on the blood. When you are fasting for a long time the levels of the blood glucose goes down as well as the insulin levels resulting in fat oxidation followed by high levels of ketone in the blood. When you fast for a short time, the levels of ketone will not rise as the rate of its metabolism matches that of its synthesis. Fasting ketosis is the most recommended type of ketosis in treatment of obesity and also before a chemotherapy.
The other type of ketosis is the nutritional ketosis. Nutritional ketosis results from changes in the diet. There are three categories of nutritional ketosis, carbohydrate-restricted ketosis, supplemental ketosis, and alcoholic ketosis. Carbohydrate restricted ketosis results from a well-formulated ketogenic diet. You can attain carbohydrate-restricted ketosis by eating a low carbohydrate, high fat, and moderate protein food. Supplemental ketosis result from consumption of supplements to raise the levels of ketone in the blood. There are certain levels of ketone in the blood that have therapeutic benefits and are attained through supplementation ketosis. Alcohol consumption results in alcoholic ketosis. Taking alcohol makes the acidic levels of the blood goes high due to the rise in ketone in the blood.
There is also the pathogenic or the diseased ketosis. Diabetic ketoacidosis is another name that is used to refer to this condition. Pathogenic ketosis is characterized with acidic conditions in the blood and that is why it is referred to as a bad stigma. Uncontrolled production of ketone in the blood results to diseased ketosis. When the pH of the blood lowers, it result in low blood glucose with causes type one or type two diabetes. In this type of ketosis, more ketone is produced than in other types. Although ketosis has its advantages, it also has its negative side as it can also cause diabetes which is a dangerous disease.
